I liked the popular home style dal but the Chana chaval was a little too spicy. The best dish was the crisped-to-perfection aloo paratha
As a tourist in the Hawthorne Belmont district I chanced upon this tea room. Went inside and the hostess waitress offered us the extensive tea menu which also had some very diverse food options. We tried a couple of varieties of their tea and loved the quality, presentation and service. The staff made the experience so much better as the waitress in particular was knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Strongly recommend
This place is now my new favourite place in Portland! The server was super kind and passionate, she complimented me atleast three times. When I ordered my food, they said: 'what a graceful combination! ' And so forth. They treated me with so much tenderness, I felt so happy. It was so heartwarming to talk to them. They have many varieties of tea, I ordered the white peony tea and it came with a really beautiful teaset, can 't wait to try more of their tea! The food has a strong taste that goes well with the tea. I sat next to the door and everyone would say something like 'This place is absolutely amazing ' while walking out. This teahouse deserves all the compliments it has received. The atmosphere should be rated 6 stars out of five. I walked in and heard this hysterical laugh and felt affected by it. People sitting in this restaurant is so happy, they would chat and laugh, with the background sound of water flowing through (didn 't figure out where it came from! . They played very very peaceful ancient Chinese music and all of these sounds happening at once made me feel like I 'm listening to asmr/white noise. Will definitely revisit this place, perhaps even tommorow!
This establishment exudes a charming old Indian dhaba ambiance with a delightful, positive atmosphere. While the Indian chai didn't quite meet our expectations, the samosas and dahi vadas were truly enjoyable. The server's politeness added to the experience, and the clay utensils complemented the overall aesthetic. Consideration for a slight expansion could enhance the capacity. The decorative touches, such as kettle and piggy bank motifs, added a touch of whimsy that we appreciated.
I've been to all of the tea houses in Portland, and this is by far the best. The atmosphere feels like a traditional tea house, very inviting, quiet, with authentic decor. The tea is consistently incredible, and all of the staff make great recommendations. This place is great not only for the tea connesouir, but the tea beginner as well. If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out!
