Two other guests joined us, and we enjoyed a fantastic show, complete with some tricks I hadn't seen at other places. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive and entertaining. The fried rice was even better than what I've had elsewhere, and they swapped sesame seeds for something different. Overall, I had a great experience!
The restaurant was visibly dim, and unfortunately, they didn't begin preparing our food until more than an hour after we arrived. We had decided what we wanted to order within just five minutes of being seated. If our waitress hadn't been so overworked, I might have considered not leaving a tip.
From the outside, the restaurant appeared inviting—open and simple. However, once we stepped inside, we found the floors, tables, and walls to be quite rough, and the bar resembled a rundown deli. I had hoped to be pleasantly surprised, but I wish I had trusted my instincts instead of prioritizing the reviews. While the cook was friendly, I quickly noticed that his serving tray was dirty. The sauce containers were dripping, and the butter dish was old and messy, suggesting it had been used for quite some time. All the sauce bottles looked unclean as well. The rice was drenched in soy sauce, and additional "secret sauce" was added that primarily masked the taste. The eggs mixed into the rice were poorly handled, and the vegetables were overcooked and excessively salty. The shrimp were not cleaned properly either. We both ordered filet mignon, but to my dismay, the cook sliced the steaks into uneven pieces as soon as they hit the grill. Having eaten at many Japanese steakhouses and always ordering filet mignon, I know how tender and exquisite it can be. However, the larger pieces were rare—almost raw—and quite off-putting, especially since steak is usually wonderful when prepared lightly. I was genuinely alarmed by the overall quality of the meal. My fiancée opted for yakisoba, which suffered from the same issue of being drenched in an unappetizing "secret sauce." In summary, everything was overly salty and far from enjoyable. To top it off, our waitress seemed completely out of it—she never checked back with us to see if we wanted anything after our initial orders. We will definitely not be returning.
I don't know why this place has so many stars. A star is only on waitress. She was very sweet. The staff prepared food without gloves and masks. Food quality is bad. Are you looking at the avocado discs????? Beef teriyaki was very salty. I'm not back.
Has changed over the last year. Prices up across the menu, soup or salad not both, and portions cut by 25% (rice and vegetables). Great service, management (Isaiah), and chef.
