There are tables available inside, a Keno screen for entertainment, and the convenience store offers a variety of items for purchase including Native art souvenirs, jewelry, shirts, and more. This place is a must-stop on your way to Lund or a short drive from Powell River towards Lund. You won't be disappointed - I highly recommend it.
This time, I decided to try their Friday special of fish and chips. Normally, I avoid batter on fish and chips because of stomach issues from greasy food. I also consider myself somewhat of a French fry expert, as it's my favorite indulgence. To my delight, the fries at Sliammon were hand-cut to perfection - not too thick, not too thin. They were deep fried just once, for the right amount of time, resulting in a golden crispiness. They were lightly seasoned and simply delicious. The halibut was lightly battered, similar to tempura and not greasy at all. I savored every bite, especially with the tartar sauce, lemon, and coleslaw on the side. I also bought some bannock and blackberry jam as a thank you gift for someone at home. The gifts were unique and local, which was a nice touch. The staff at Sliammon were friendly, considerate, and clearly aimed to please their customers. It's definitely worth a stop for a variety of reasons, but the halibut and fries were the real standouts. Highly recommended!
The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! Located inside a convenience store gas station near the northern end of Highway 101 in Lund, BC, this hidden gem offers unique burgers made from game meat, amazing poutine, and the best sausage rolls I've ever tasted. I tried the elk burger special and it was fantastic - not dry like elk often is. They have daily specials to keep the menu fresh and innovative. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere make it a great place to stop and enjoy your meal. I've heard the locals rave about the bannock, so I'll definitely have to try it next time.
Your reviewer: I moved here from NYC about a year ago and the thing I miss the most is good food. Not fancy over-priced food, just good honest food, cooked well for a decent price. The Location: I'd been hearing from friend's that this place was good. It's more than good. It's fantastic. Yeah, it's in a gas station. I don't care, it makes the whole thing more charming. The Food: I watched in amazement as the cook carefully salted and peppered my fries, flipping them around in a bowl. These are real fries from real potatoes, cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and served hot. I don't know why they are so good. The freshness? The seasoning? The quality of the oil? I also got a chicken burger. It too was deep fried, which I did not expect. Usually I find deep friend chicken things to be disgusting and basically inedible. This was neither. The chicken was actually chicken, it was delicious and fresh tasting. The breading was crispy and caramelized and not at all greasy. Well done Sli City Grill, I enjoyed every bite.
Title says it all... reasonable pricing, quality products, friendly service and fresh ingreadients fresh bannock for the burgers which is made constantly, so not from the freezer, nor or the fries: made from real potatoes and not pre made and frozen.
