On a whim with a day off from work we took a three hour ride from CT to see if we could catch a Shark fin swim by. Only a couple days past the busy Labor Day weekend the beach was quiet. Only a handful of other guests. All keep a social distance and wearing masks when crossing paths. The restrooms were still open and very clean. A little disappointed not to see any Great White Shark fins, but delighted to see so many Seals in their natural habitat. They were close enough to see without binoculors and to film with a cell phone. There are plenty of warnings about what dangers are out there in the big beautiful ocean. It's a great place to visit with the family and the family pet too.
We ate here Thursday. We didn't even know it existed as we normally don't go left to Herring Cove and just go to Race Point. For now on we will be going to Herring Cove instead. Their prices are reasonable, especially considering they're the only option. I really liked my grilled cheese and were surprised at the large size of the sliced watermelon. It is perfectly located near the beach entrance, too.
Visited two separate spots in the National Seashore for short hikes. The Atlantic Cedar Swamp trail in Marconi Area of Wellfleet and the Red Maple Walk in Fort Hill, Eastham. Well maintained paths; good signage. Mid week and hot day so not many people so easy to social distance from idiots there were there but NOT WEARING MASKS! . Trails through the forest areas gave lovely relief to sunny day. Beautiful meadow and sea views at Fort Hill. Always a treat to be there. Hope the Capt. Peniman House can open next summer. Been once before and the tour is full of fun, interesting info.
Beautiful Long Beach to explore. Seals frolicking in the surf, clean bathrooms, and lifeguards that are attentive on the stands. What more could you want?
