Feedback gevenVery nice - CASH ONLY - place. Fish/shrimp were my favorites. Cold shrimp, squid, octopus and veggie soup was great with the hot and humid days. Nice views and service are also a plus!
We had walked around the Marina a few times before stopping here at Los Alcatraces after seeing the place pretty much packed out each pass by. Not impressed...at all. The only reason I gave two out of five truly was the location was perfect. Maybe we are spoiled with having authentic food in our lives, I don't know. But first...the beverages. We ordered three lemonades and a water. The 'lemonades' came and I had to ask again for my water. Why did I quote mark 'lemonade' you ask? Because it was maybe Sprite with lemon squeezed in. Now, let me state, we have eaten, at this point, at several other restaurants on the Marina. Everywhere else had real lemonade...real. Also, they were much more attentive...in every way. Back to the food. Two of us ordered chicken enchiladas w/red sauce. One ordered the chicken quesadillas. The enchiladas said they came with rice and beans. I have never had watery refried beans before, but I can now check that one off the ol' bucket list. And I promise, it was not high on my list...Next, the red sauce. This was nowhere near any enchilada sauce I have EVER had before. It tasted like pasta sauce...and my wife actually commented that it (the enchilada) tasted like lasagna after trying it. It also was watery and as such combined with the water beans...I mean refried beans. The quesadillas were very plain. While the food wasn't necessarily 'bad'...it definitely is NOT where you want to go if you want Mexican. The service was barely anything to write about. Apparently they were closing soon, and it was evident in how they took care of us, or lacked taking care of us. While we weren't treated badly, we were very aware of the 'rush' to get us out of there. Also, we have experienced amazing service and exceeded expectations in presentation and amounts of food prior to this experience and so we have had a level of experience already established that Los Alcatrace never came close to. This is just our experience, but if you have gotten this far, it would be a much better choice to head elsewhere.
Stopped in for Breakfast and had fantastic service and wonderful food. The waiter was accommodating to my daughter who wanted a lunch item rather than breakfast. The view of the marina and the people watching make it even better.
This place appeared to be very elegant, with a very good Mexican ambiance. If you get there late morning on a weekend, it gets super busy, as this place is very popular. The waiters are very courteous and will attempt to talk to you in English. The food is super delicious! I can't seem to pin point a bad one, and their Mexican coffee was the bomb!!!! We actually came here 2or3 times in a week of vacation as the food was good. I love it.
The ambiance of the restaurant was colorful and tropical wth indoor and outdoor seating. The food was authentic and slighly more unique than your typical fare in Mexico. A strong and fun Mariachi band circulates. The atmosphere was romantic and fun as well.
