J. Peters Grill - Richland County

Even though I was born and raised here I have been gone for 20 years and then when you move back you realize some things just don't change... The sad thing is the food actually was okay the piece of prime rib I had was as good as anywhere you'll get prime rib... But that's all I have to say that's positive which is sad. When you walk into a restaurant and there are three teenage girls with no direction that are putting you on a waiting list when there's four tables open you know it's not going to be good because there's no leadership at the restaurant.... And then when you're waitress would rather talk to the table about how she looks like a girl from American Idol and you have to get up and get your own drinks your own salt and pepper I think you get my drift that's pretty bad... I even had to go walk up to the bar to pay my tab because we could not get her to come back to the table..when I was at the bar I could see her and three other waitresses sitting in a cubbyhole checking messages and talking on their cell phone I guess that's the sign of the times but if you have management at the front end of the house they nip that in the bud obviously all the talents in the back end not the front end which is sad.. the guy at the bar actually was a good guy but he was training a girl when I ordered a vodka soda she told me she would have the right that down and of course you could not hear it through her mask even though the mandates over with but don't get me started there... I have to admit I was told not to go there I was hoping it would be better and we did not even have I expectations but another example of if you just don't understand the business that you're in you have no chance to be successful unfortunately this checks that box... They'll always cater to the good old boy people that want some fried shrimp and that will be about it

The J Peters’ Brand always delivers. Tonight service was fantastic (McKenzie sp), very attentive while taking care of several tables. Food was fantastic as always. Great atmosphere, beautiful night on the lake w live music (not too loud) that added to the experience. Recommend.

We ate dinner here in September on the very first day that J Peters opened at this location. The sign for the defunct Rusty Anchor was still in place and may still be, for all I know). Our party of four received prompt, attentive service thank you, Virginia) and we enjoyed our meals. My prime rib $24.99) was tender and delicious, and my wife's JP Chicken $17.49) was pronounced very good, though a tad too salty. We returned on a Saturday in mid October with guests, expecting the same fine food and the same level of service. The food was very good, as before, but the service was extremely slow. This apparently happened because the food for Catfish Johnny's next door was being prepared in the J Peters kitchen. It was a football Saturday, and Catfish Johnny's was packed with Gamecock fans glued to the TVs. Absent this service glitch at J Peters, which may have have been just a one time thing,I probably would have given J Peters a rating of Excellent.

We used to go to Rusty Anchor a lot, but it became too fried and too greasy for our taste. When J. Peters bought it and revised the menu, we decided to give it a try. The Early Bird specials were spectacular. If fried is your thing, they have it, but if you prefer a lighter cuisine, they have that also. I had the prime rib and it was cooked exactly right. My wife had the salmon and it was excellent.

The Jpeters menu is a great improvement. However last night I ordered a ribeye and it was pure Grissel and fat. TERRIBLE. When I returned it, they wanted to charge me for the salad and potatoes as side items for 4 dollars each. We live down the road and keep our boat at marina and would love to frequent here more. The previous menu/ Managers had us just walking by when we docked. They missed an opportunity to make a wrong a right. The server and staff as always were polite.
