Banzai Sushi House Ltd - Richmond

I am a longtime regular customer. Banzai is known for generous portions and this why I regularly order take-out here. Unfortunately, the portions are constantly getting smaller and smaller. It's to the point where it is no longer filling. Banzai needs to ensure portions are in-line with what longtime regular customers expect. If portions continue to shrink loyal customers may look elsewhere.I usually order either a full House Roll, Mix Alaska Combo, or Deluxe Sushi Combo. The House Roll and Mix Alaska combo have the biggest issue with shrinking portions.Banzai please return to your expected portion sizes and monitor your portions for consistency. Other than the shrinking portions the sushi is good. I would give one more star once portions are back under control.

Had dinner tonight after arriving from the airport. Huge pieces of sashimi in the deluxe sashimi combo. Rolls were pretty good but I think they were heavy on the rice. We also arrived at 8:30 and the restaurant closed at 9:00. Felt a little rushed at the end but recommend restaurant. Prices are good.

My DH read some reviews and Banzai Sushi House came up as a recommended place. So we drove into Richmond, a predominantly Chinese community to come eat at a Japanese restaurant run by presumably a Vietnamese owner (music in the background and staff conversation sounded Vietnamese). There were a few tables in the restaurant but most people seemed to be ordering party trays to go and the establishment felt like a sushi making factory. Judging by the decor, I was a bit skeptical at first but the stream of people coming in to pick up orders was a good sign.We ordered sashimi, sushi combo and a scallop roll. The portions were enormous and the fish was surprisingly good. I did take a star off for their soy sauce and ginger. The soy sauce was more akin to Chinese dark soy sauce and very high sodium. And ginger was pink, not the undyed ones.

This place has the largest sushi portions I have ever encountered. I was there twice this week. Once by myself and the second time with a friend. A $11.95 TO $13.95 PLATTER with added miso $1.50 may satisfy two people. If more 8s need add their $7.95 combo special. Only downsides to this friendly place is their small size and extremely busy parking. They prefer you takeout but I like the bustle and friendly atmosphere.

Could not wait to get back to Richmond and come back. Was here last year and wanted to have it again. Just as good as last year A++
