So I thought I would bring my brother here to treat him for his bday. Secretly I was looking forward to try their unique appetizers that I didn't get to try last time with the mil, but only to find most of them are gone from the menu except for a couple of unique ones. So we ended up ordering the regulars like salmon and toro sashimi, beef sashimi in ponzu sauce. For hots, we had chicken skewers, miso soup, and an unagi don, my bro's fav. The service was good, all sashimi dishes were fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. The only thing is the portion of all their dishes are rather small, like tapas-size. You will have to order lots if you plan on filling up on sashimi. The only unique (less common) dish we ordered was the Fish liver, which was pretty good. The hot foods are all good too. The skewers in particularly were juicy and tasty. All in all, their foods are great, but the only sticking pt is they no longer have those unique dishes that draws and makes it worthwhile to pay the extra bucks. The dinner for two came out to $80 plus tips, rather pricey for what you get.
First time here, not like it. Sashimi and oysters not very fresh. Food not worth the price. Ordered associated sushi and sashimi, nothing special and basically have the same fish. Grilled rice balls is big but wet inside like eating soy sauce with white rice... Wont come back again.
Went to Takifugu for the 1st time. It's atmosphere is ok but their service and food is terrible! My parents ordered the $88 special for 2. You share an anorexic lobster with microscopic pieces of meat...parts of their course came right away like the chewy beef and miso soup. We are Japanese and honestly have to say this food is NOT AUTHENTIC JAPANESE AT ALL! As for the the other 5 of us?! It was like they totally forgot our order. My children were livid with hunger. My parent felt awful because only their food came. ONE HOUR AND 20 MINUTES LATER still no food. The other tables that came later were eating. We asked several times but they were like " it's coming..coming..." "Kitchen so busy ok" after 1 hour 30min we cancelled the rest just paid for what little that came and drove over to ICHIROs (great food fast friendly service!) in Steveston what a difference!! AS FOR TAKIFUGU DO YOURSELF A FAVOR NEVER NEVER EAT THERE! IT IS NOT AUTHENTIC JAPANESE FOOD THERE NO JAPANESE STAFF THERE. EXPENSIVE "FAKE" JAPANESE FOOD WITH TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!
So I read reviews on yelp for this restaurant..and it had some good comments. So I decided to go there for a party, but the food is not good for the price (my food came not hot but just warm as well), the service was extremely slow....also I found a steel wool in my dish!! The only thing I can say about that place that is even remotely on the good side is the presentation of the restaurant itself as it does have a nice atmosphere and also the large selection of sushi. Definitely would not recommend this place...and I WILL NOT be going back for sure. I would like to note also that NON of my friends liked that place...
I bought a Groupon deal and decided to give this restaurant a try while I'm in Vancouver. It's tucked away in a corner, making it a bit difficult to find.
