I have mixed emotions about this restaurant. My partner and I stumbled upon it by accident after our original Japanese restaurant plans fell through. The food was fresh and different from the typical Japanese izakaya places. Most of the dishes were delicious and the presentation was creative. The service was quick and the atmosphere was warm and lively. We sat at the counter with a great view of the kitchen and sushi prep station. The owners, who were Cantonese, served us and connected well with my partner who is also Cantonese. The owner recommended a few dishes for us, which turned out to be more than we expected. We ended up spending more than we intended as the prices were not clearly stated, leading to a misunderstanding. It's important to clarify the prices of dishes before ordering to avoid any surprises. Some tables were spending over 400 CAD, and it seemed like the owners expected the same from us.
The restaurant is located in a small strip mall, but don't let the bla exterior deceive you. The sushi was excellent and fresh. My friend and I ordered a variety of sushi rolls and did the standard cross-sampling. My favorite was the chopped scallop with tobiko. Staff were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere and decor were pleasant. I will be back!
I went to Tsukiji with my family for the first time and we were impressed by the fresh food and wide variety of options, from sushi to Japanese dishes. The staff was friendly and our food came out promptly. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in Richmond.
The ambience is very attractive, and the menu is imaginative. I had miso soup with clams and the special sushi plate. Both were very good. With the meal I had some sake, which I found just a bit bland. Green tea ice cream ended the meal appropriately. If you’re in the area, you can do much worse. Recommended.
