Here for sushi lunch. Soup, salad, five pieces of sushi, six pieces of roll, hot tea, $12,50. All good, great service, good food, inexpensive.
This small Japanese restaurant is run by a family. All dishes are of top-notch quality, made fresh to order. The service is friendly, though a bit on the slow side. Reservations are necessary.
We stumbled upon this restaurant near our hotel and were pleasantly surprised by the unassuming exterior that hid the authentic Japanese sushi inside. Run by a skilled Japanese sushi chef and his Chinese-speaking partner, this is the place to visit if you are craving genuine Japanese sushi and friendly service reminiscent of a neighborhood eatery in Japan. Be prepared to wait a bit and be willing to pay a bit more for the high-quality ingredients sourced from Japan. This cozy spot, which I believe is one of only two in the area, takes pride in their dishes. Each piece of sushi is delicately seasoned with a hint of Wasabi, and the Hamachi, Uni, and Scallops are particularly delightful. The Ikura is beautifully prepared and presented, and the tempura is spot-on. The couple running the restaurant clearly take pride in their craft. My only suggestion would be to use freshly ground wasabi to further elevate their dishes. This is not your typical conveyor belt sushi joint, so don't expect a fast-food experience here.
We were sitting at the sushi bar but the chef wasn't really friendly. I guess he was just too busy. We ordered an deluxe assorted sashimi (17 pieces) for $45. Although the quality and taste of the fish is a little bit above average, its...price is too. We expected more for this price, at least give us freshly grind wasabi. We rather go downtown.
