I'm not sure if I just didn't pick the right pie, or if I'm on a futile quest for perfection. Regardless, I'm looking forward to trying more pies and have even planned a pie crawl with a fellow pie lover to visit other recommended pie vendors. I pass by The Jolly Swagman often, so I'll definitely be back to try other menu items, whether pies or something else. The staff is friendly, although I did get questioned for taking photos in the cafe.
The coffee arrived at the table first, accompanied by a cute bear-shaped biscuit. The Merlo coffee here has always been good and did not disappoint. The omelette arrived about five minutes later and I was shocked by the portion size. It came with four slices of grain bread and a large egg omelette filled with caramelized onions, plenty of mushrooms, spinach, and feta. I had to leave some of the carbs behind as my stomach would have been full for the whole day otherwise. Previous visits: December 2018 - 4/5; June 2018 - 3/5; November 2017 - 4/5.
The pies and sausage rolls at this restaurant are quite good. I've also enjoyed the pastries I've tried, such as the custard tart and eccles cake. I've always had a pleasant experience with the service as well.
Thank you to the polite and helpful staff who assisted with getting a cake to my mother for Easter she was delighted. Keep up the good old fashioned customer service
Nice but!!!. Food is quite nice here, but the services is terrible. If I wanted to be treated like a second class citizen, I would go to a place that is a lot better than this. To the school girl behind the counter that spoke us down, you are not the Queen. You are a service provider and need to learn how to treat your customers.
