It has been years since I have stopped in a Perkins, but I had multiple days of doctors visits at Mayo Clinic, so I thought I 'd treat myself with some dessert. The female working the cash register however very friendly, struggled to operate the register. The first item I ordered she couldn 't find on the register to ring in, and had to go back in the kitchen and ask them, to figure out how to do it. Once she got it rung in, she had problems charging me for it. The first time the register froze she claimed, so she helped the next customer in line on the second register on the other counter. Then she came back, and said she 'd have to cancel the transaction, and start over. We re-did the order. She helped the next customers in which time I realized that when she showed me the dessert menu, the fresh strawberry pie as being advertised by the front door on a poster labeled ' strawberry season is back ' was not being advertised in the pie case, or on the dessert menu for some reason. I asked if it was too late to get a slice of the strawberry pie for my dessert order, as that was more what I was looking for, and she said as long as they hadn 't started my order in the kitchen it wouldn 't be a problem (which was just another dessert item). She checked in the kitchen for me, and my order had not been made, she also said that the second time she had charged me that it again did not work. I smiled, and said, 'No worries, maybe 3rd time will be the charm then! ' So she ran my card again this time for the slice of pie, and this time an error message comes up on the register saying I 'm about to be charged twice. She gets her manager who tells me to ignore the message, and that she 'll just refund it if I am. I explain that I don 't live in the state, but the manager didn 't care. Make sure you are able to check your account before you leave the establishme
Perkins feels outdated sometimes with nothing new. The Dinner plates were perfect portion meals. New smaller desserts tastes amazing. Young people were a balance with the older employees working there. Their Clear To Go packaging were great with high quality covers. I see myself probably doing take out more.
Father?s Day brunch got us out early looking for a booth to call our own. The ever predictable, dependable home of reasonable breakfasts got us in the doors of a very busy restaurant. Seated without a wait, drinks and order in and hot food in a timely manner was what we wanted and what we got. The Everything Skillet with a side of pancakes was our order. Sizable serving of whole and smashed tator tots covered with grilled diced ham, chopped mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes and two eggs, done your way, and topped with shredded cheddar cheese. Food was hot, ingredients plentiful, tasty and presentation doable. I have always been a fan of fluffy, sweet pancakes and nobody can beat Perkins with three plate size pancakes for a $1.49. This may not be a small town cafe style cooking, but from a commercial kitchen with a line of bakery goods, it comes in a close second.
We aren?t from the area but will definitely be coming back again! The restaurant is actually a pretty rough experience most of the staff seems overworked and crabby : unless you get Chase as a waiter! He has great energy and made us smile our whole time : all of our food was right and he checked in on us the perfect amount! His customer service/people skills are amazing! :
Always have enjoyed Perkins and glad they came back at least with one store in Rochester. Staff was great and food is as good as always. We did have an issue with our check. We were charged Supply chain adjustment on our drinks that already cost $3.20. I understand this is not the local store doing this but always keep an eye on your bill. Again staff and food are as good as ever.
