Feedback gevenI have been enjoying the delicious home-style meals at this restaurant for 25 years now, as I make my way to Seaspray. I have witnessed many people pop in for a quick beer and end up staying for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and I am already looking forward to my next visit for a quick beer.
The people at the restaurant were friendly and cheerful. The portions were huge, I couldn't finish it all because there was too much on my plate. I ordered a lemon squash and it was served in a chilled glass. The atmosphere was very family-friendly, with children, singles, couples, and families of all ages welcomed. My girlfriends and I had a fantastic time there.
While driving back to Melbourne from Metung, we stopped in Rosedale and stumbled upon the Rosedale Hotel, a charming old pub in the small town. Behind the bar was Effie, a delightful Greek lady who was running the show for the day. Hungry, we asked her for something to eat and she provided us with a list of delectable dishes, most of which were made from ingredients grown in her own garden. We decided on the pumpkin soup (made from her homegrown pumpkins), chips seasoned with oregano and salt, and a couple of drinks. Despite only having $25, Effie insisted it was not a problem. The food was exceptional - the soup was a bit lighter in color than expected but incredibly tasty, and the hand-cut chips were delicious with the added touch of oregano. Effie even gave us a tour of her vegetable garden before we left. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. If you're in the area, take a detour and visit the Rosedale Hotel - be sure to say hello to Effie.

We drove through Rosedale on the way back to Melbourne from Metung. We were hungry and came across the Rosedale Hotel - an old style pub in this tiny little town. Behind the bar was Effie, a charming old Greek lady who was in charge for the day. We asked her if we could have something to eat and she gave us a list of delicious items - most made from food grown in her garden. We settled on pumpkin soup (home-grown and home-made), chips and a couple of drinks. We only had $25 but she said "no worries - that's OK". The food was sublime - I can't describe the soup - paler than you would expect and not pureed but absolutely delicious. The chips had oregano and salt on them and were hand-cut. She showed us round her veggie garden and sent us on our way. It's brilliant. Make the detour. And say hello to Effie.
