The restaurant was outside in a covered courtyard just off the Drosselgasse, the main tourist street, and was full at 7pm. Being our first night in Germany we all went for the safe option of Snitzel served with french fries it was very good and I would have enjoyed it even more if they had not made it so salty, we discovered that salt is used a lot in restaurant food in Germany and it can be a little overwhelming. Desserts were excellent as was the local Riesling albeit very pricey, €32 for wine made locally. Again we found out that unlike other wine producing regions where you can enjoy the local vintages at usually much cheaper rates this is not the case in the Middle Rhine, however in Breuer's the price included a bottle of mineral water which usually runs at an exorbitant price of €6 to €7 in all establishments. However we really enjoyed the ambience and the great entertainment marking a great start to our holiday but failed to get a reservation for any other night during our stay due to them being fully booked, although you can come later for a drink and enjoy the music, so be warned book ahead if you're planning to visit this local hot spot.
We happened upon the place while strolling thru the village. It was entertaining to watch the tourists and staff. Good place to people watch. Nice location and the weather was good as was the food. We had the Schnitzels (Ebbes von de Wutz) which were good. A nice meal. My wife ordered her sauce on the side and they mistakenly charged us an extra €7 Euros. We will go back. Surprisingly over a third of the cost of the meal was in taxes!
What a brilliant find. Excellent local food, great local wine all delivered in a fun atmosphere and served with a smile. We had the local tapas which we loved and finished with a Rudesheimer brandy coffee. Loved it .
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. We were on a Viking cruise, but did not sign up for the dinner excursion and just walked over to the restaurant on our own. We arrived at 6:45 and the place was completely empty, but the band was playing and the atmosphere was welcoming. We sat down, ordered a bottle of the local dry Riesling, and as we were looking over the menu, the entire group of 50 60 viking guests came in. The energy immediately changed to a party and the band livened up even more. We ordered the schnitzel and the local river trout. Both were excellent and don’t miss the local herbed cheese with fresh bread. We were so glad to have been able to order off the menu, rather than having the preset meal of sliced pork, mashed potatoes, and kraut. This restaurant serves Viking guests five nights per week. I would suggest that you arrive before seven to get seated before they all come in. It was the best of both worlds getting exactly what we wanted to eat and drink, but bring in the midst of a lively crowd on an otherwise very quiet evening in Rudesheim.
We arrived on a Saturday evening when it was full. The friendly waiter asked us to come back in 20 minutes, and sure enough, a table was ready for us. We enjoyed the food and the wine and the service team dressed in traditional costumes. Even better, we enjoyed watching the (mainly German 50+ crowd singing and dancing to the live music.
