We had the trout with crispy skin, homemade remoulade, buttersoft potatoes and a fresh salad with a tasty dressing. As dessert i had frozen white chocolate mousse with strawberries and my wife had chocolate cake with vannila ice cream and whippes cream. We had 2 bottles of water. 55 euro for everything. Maybe the best food and prices in town.
It was out first night in Germany this time and we we were pushed for time so we arrived at the restaurant at 20.55 and asked for a table. They said "the kitchen closes at 21.00 but we will fit you in". They did and the food and service was excellent. It seemed like more of a locals restaurant than a tourist place [we thought everyone else in there was German]. So, while it has interesting decor it did not seem too touristy. My veal pattie with Chanterelles was the best meal I had on this trip.
This charming restaurant is part of the family-owned Central Hotel K. Stiebler, and operated with a personal touch. The setting is traditional yet elegant, the menu surprisingly wide-ranging, and the service warmly attentive. Every dish proved delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. They have loyal local customers, so reservations are important in the evening. Make yours whenever in lovely Rudesheim, as Der Rauchfang is an all around excellent eatery!

Just around the corner of the market square this is a short walk from the main touristy street, but it feels miles away. Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly and efficient service (but without the tacky Dirndl). The menu sounded promising, but the food was even better than expected: absolutely lovely. We enjoyed every single dish we had. There is a small, quiet and pleasant terrace at the back. Overall, It was a great experience and felt very well taken care off: highly recommended!
