Residence Inn By Marriott Saginaw

08/09/22-I am passing through Saginaw MI. I stay in 3 to 4 Marriott hotels a week, with 63 stays so far this year. I usually check in around 5pm. I tend to visit the hotel gym around 1130pm. This is what I did on Tuesday night. I ran a few miles on the treadmill and sat down to cool down before lifting some free weights. As I 'm sitting I hear the gym door open which is out of my line of sight. I eventually turn around to see a gentleman standing behind me staring at me. Our eyes met and I semi nodded and went back to looking at my phone. A second later he says and you are? I turn and reply with I 'm sorry? , he replies who are you? I just came in and I looked on the camera and I saw you sitting here . I said ok , I 'm still sitting here, I don 't know who you are ,you didn 't say he said I just came in , I assumed at this point from the name tag and that statement that he worked at the hotel. I said ok, well I didn 't sneak in I 'm staying at this hotel I said my last name and gave my room number. He said well you gotta understand with everything going on in the world today I said no I don 't have to, I 'm not a criminal, I didn 't break in, I 'm staying at this hotel, do you need an ID? Then he began saying no, and he just saw me on the camera, he repeated the everything going on in the world today statement. By that point I had said I just want to go to my room and he was saying I don 't have to and he apologizes and I said dont but he kept on, followed me to elevator and apologized again and repeated the everything going on in the world statement again. I reiterated that this has nothing to do with me and isnt my concern sitting in a gym that you havr to use a room key card to enter is open 24 hours. That was what really bothered me. Ultimately....there is a way to do things in a business setting. A lot of times it 's approach. If he had come in and introduced his self I 'd have done the same and this probably would have ended differently. I felt he came in the gym with his mind made up and spoke in a condescending manner to a person he didn 't know, but seemed to have decided what I might be or what my situation or intentions were based on his world view. I will say I 've never experienced this in any Marriott hotel. It 's usually a very good experience. This was not.

Gross place! Requested a new room but it was just as bad. Furniture and carpet was destroyed. Couch was visibly dirty. Eww eww eww Didn't feel safe staying here, especially with a toddler. Not fit for bare feet! Friendly front desk staff, but the place was poorly managed. Marriott needs to come in and gut this place. Not worth the money. Not worth risking your health.

Good hotel. Nothing fancy. Laundry facilities and in room Kitchener were a plus. Nice staff. Breakfast was okay. Sausage patty and flavorless eggs, oatmeal or cold cereal. Someone had to serve you which wasn't ideal. Coffee wasn't good.

I made that unfortunate mistake of picking this hotel for a business trip. The Wi-Fi here does not work and the front desk takes forever to pick up their phone. What kind of hotel doesn't have Wi-Fi!?

Had a great stay. Room was more than I expected, very clean and new. Only issue was that the dish went out and would search for signal when it rained. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
