The breakfast plate was fried eggs with toast and pan fried potatoes. Both were difficult to ruin. I asked if the tuna salad and then the chicken salad was made with mayonnaise. They both were. So I opted for the cucumber salad, but asked if it also was made with mayonnaise. The waitress assured me that it was not. What arrived before me appeared to be bowl of soup. I was shocked and disgusted. I was peering down at a few diced onion and two I counted them, two cucumber slices floating in a bowl of salad dressing. I couldn't even fish out the few items swimming in front of me. The waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. She knew! The bottom line is that I will never go back.
This is a nice family restaurant. Lunch for three was under $30. We had burgers and grilled cheese with ham. Rave reviews all around. The slaw was delicious; the fries, while from a bag, were fresh and hot. The burgers are handmade. Everything is made to order, so it may take a while to get your food. It's fairly quick, but not McDonald's quick. Service was good. All in all a nice experience. We had a good time.
Confirmed they are back open The special today is meatloaf and mashed potatoes for 7.50 As a related aside some sources (including their own Facebook page) say they are closed on Mondays, but they are open on Mondays
My Dad's Place serves reasonably priced diner style food (including full breakfast until late lunch hours) in very clean older building. I was very impressed with the basic cheeseburger, which was served on a very fresh and perfectly sized bun and was cooked not just to order but to the temperature/done ness I requested, which is unusual at this price point The philly steak sandwich I had a few days later was less successful Filling, but bland I did not like the breakfast items I have tried so far (biscuits and gravy, home fries) quite as well. The biscuit seemed to be institutional, the gravy was VERY thick and lacked much flavor, and the home fries were very thick and entirely unseasoned. I look forward to trying one of the diner style plate lunch specials, like the meatloaf with redskin potatoes that was available today Service was quick and friendly, and while there doesn't seem to be any parking available at this building specifically, there is a free public lot directly across the street EDIT 20160414: they are temporarily closed due to a death in the family and some (as far as I can tell from their Facebook page) staffing issues.
I suggest the Philly Cheesesteak Platter with Gripp fries! They really taste like grippos!
