There was no one else there, no special notices or posters, no fan fare and not any special menus etc. The decor is very inexpensive chairs and tables, a plain counter and not even a menu board. It was more like a take out with a few tables and chairs along the sides. We asked about the lobster rolls. They were just on white hotdog buns with no special sauce- just mayo and lettuce. The price was very high so we left without purchases. I had been prepared to enjoy a new place with a favourite treat but was put off. Have WALKED BY and still no customers were in there.
I flew into Saint John from Toronto to meet-up with my associates for our first meeting in the Maritime and we stumbled into Dave’s Lobster. This being my first time in St. John and we wanted to grab a quick lunch between meetings. This place is fairly new and they specialize in Lobster Rolls. All meals come with Potato Chips and a big Kosher Dill Pickle. All Lobster Rolls are made with 4 oz. of Prince Edward Island Lobster. PEI Lobster is warmed in a pan of butter, lemon and garlic. It is served on a traditional split-top roll, buttered, grilled and topped with fresh chives. Gluten-free Rolls or a Lettuce Wrap are available as an option. Plus, Lobster Tacos are also available. Because it is fresh Lobster, we were told the price can fluctuate daily.
Really good lobster roll, I had the half and half (Half traditional with warm butter, half cold). For $20 I got a lobster roll and a bag of chips and a pickle. The roll is really stuff with lobster, so you get a good amount for what do you pay. The only thing is that you have to go there with plenty of time to spare, it was only one person working in there and we were 5, it took a long time to get all our orders since she had to take the order and prepare each of them, plus maintain the tables clean, quite of challenge. But besides that it was worth it. Their chips are really good, I had the salt and vinegar and had a different unique taste but delicious.
Had the local lobster roll. Very meaty --full of lobster. Light on the mayo, just the way I like it. No frills, all about the lobster.
My wife and I came here to enjoy a couple different types of lobster rolls. They have 4 - 5 different types to choose from! We had 'The Local' and 'The Fancy' both were amazing. The girl that served us was also extremely friendly and accommodating. The only reason I could not give this establishment an excellent rating was that the beers we had with our rolls was very flat. Other than that I highly recommend this restaurant wanting to get their lobster on.
