Ichiban - Saint Louis

Great restaurant run by a family. Extremely generous proportions. They don't try to load their sushi with rice. Very nice atmosphere.

Don't go...this is the nabe udon I ordered for lunch...instead of having additional seafood and fish cake (noted on the menu , only one egg and one shrimp (I ate the shrimp as it is tempera shrimp and they packed noodle and soup together for Togo order! were seen. I was told it was lunch special so no two other things as seen in the dinner menu. I paid $18 for this. Won't go again and don't recommend anyone to go with this price.

Overall the food is good. The sushi rolls are big and the sushi chef is nice. We asked for specials and he offered the seared toro (tuna) and oyster. I would avoid the seafood udon. It took forever to prepare and had very little udon and 3 small shrimps. The service is extremely lacking. It's a family run restaurant the mom and young daughter serves and the dad makes the sushi. We were one of several tables and they were not attentive whatsoever. They were extremely stressed out which made the atmosphere extremely uncomfortable. They also overcharged us, please be sure to check your receipt.

Amazing food! Not many other customers which is a shame given how great the food was. The Crab Rangoon was to die for and the sushi was delicious.

Becoming very overpriced but overall good solid traditional Japanese dishes. Salmon bento box was good.
