We found this small bar-tabac when looking for a cheap meal in the Solidor area of Saint-Servan, on the banks of the Rance estuary. As my son and I were avoiding eggs and meat, we could not eat the Plat de Jour, a large tarte...and salad which my wife found delicious. However, Colette, the cook (and proprietor was very happy to suggest and cook a meal to suit: a gallette filled with vegetables, a little like ratatouille, plus salad. The apple tart speciality of the house was one of the best we had in France. Very good value, and very friendly service. Sitting on the terrace and watching dusk draw in over the Solidor Tower and the Rance was great, and they were even playing jazz that we could dance to on the terrace.
