Cafe De Chinitas - Salamanca

Came here on the recommendation of a friend, and it was great! A bit off the beaten tourist track, but worth it, because you get great tapas, wine or beer in a very local environment at local prices! I had four plates and a big beer for about €4! (A single ice cream at Plaza Major costs €3.5! And it all tasted great. Well worth seeking out

I don't know how they do it. This is a family-run restaurant north of the city centre, and there are dozens of fresh--and I mean fresh--tapas available. Lots of locals visit the restaurant, and I see why. I've ordered a tortilla (just the right amount of onion), a wonderful slice of bread with tomato, ham and olive oil, and most recently fried calamari that was actually hot and hadn't sat around for ages. It's a walk, but hey. You can burn off the calories.
