Like the Sunday lunch and a nice pint. Dog friendly which is nice too. Will take my mum for lunch there again soon

Went for a quiet drink on a Sunday evening in July with the family. Beer was good. Staff excellent. We could hear ourselves talking without booming music, very pleasant. Unfortunately we were very politely told they would be closing up soon and therefore we would have to leave. The time..... 8.30pm. what the heck! To be fair there was only us in the pub, sitting quietly in a corner, listening to the thunderstorm outside. .... Ah well. We'll be back, but hopefully be able to leave when we want to! We stayed in a hotel in Saltburn for two nights in May. We went to the Victoria pub on the Friday and despite the boards saying food until 8:00 they had stopped serving food at 7:00. We went back on Saturday because of the good reviews. My wife had fish and chips which was ok. I had the chilli with rice. It was without doubt the worst meal I have ever had. The mince was very watery/ greasy with very little else in it to give it flavour other than chilli flakes. Service: 1 Location: 4
