‘A premium price for poorly cooked food’ best describes my experience. I ordered a thali, and unfortunately, the rice served was from the bottom of the rice cooker and was burnt. When I mentioned this to the server, he explained that someone else had served the food, and it wasn’t his fault. While I appreciated being offered another serving of rice, I decided to decline. I was a bit surprised that no one apologized, as I would have expected a bit more attentiveness considering the $24 price for a thali. Good quality food should be a given. Regarding the drink, I ordered a masala Thums Up, but the generous amount of ice diluted the flavor. Perhaps, it would be better to serve it chilled without the ice. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience. Parking: Free 2 hour street parking.
This review is purely based on the abysmal service. The food tastes good, but the sides and suggestions are both missing. Overall, it’s mostly meh…
Came here with a large office group for dinner. Two of us got pretty bad food poisoning afterwards. I suspect the yogurt dip that was served with biryani. But will give this place benefit of doubt. Food presentation was very good. Taste was average.
Writing this review is difficult for me because we've been loyal fans of Saffron for years. Unfortunately, the recent changes to the menu—possibly due to a new chef?—have led to a decline in the dining experience, despite being marketed as a move towards a more shared, communal approach. We dined there recently and were surprised to find that the portion sizes of some of their most popular appetizers had noticeably decreased. For example, while the black pepper chicken kebabs tasted just as good as they did before the menu change, the size of the chicken pieces was literally cut in half. Although the price was reduced as well, it was evident that the price drop did not correspond with the reduction in portion size. Another long-time favorite of ours, the paneer tikka, was also disappointing. It used to feature large, moist, and flavorful chunks of paneer, but the recent version was almost unrecognizable. The portion size was significantly smaller, and the quality was nowhere near what we had come to expect. It almost seemed like a completely different dish, possibly not even prepared by the same chef! It saddens me to write this, but our recent experiences at Saffron have not met the high standards we've come to expect from one of our favorite local Indian restaurants.
