The soda fountain offers non-Coke/Pepsi products, which are also tasty. I ordered a Reuben, and it was delicious! The potato chips seemed to be house-made and were very good as well. I’ve tried Lucky’s across the street, and this block has two fantastic deli sandwich spots! Both places were impressive. I’ll definitely have to go back to Larry’s to see which one becomes my favorite.
Amazing sandwiches! How can sandwiches be amazing just try one and hot damn it's totally worth it. My wife had the turkey and I had the meatball, the turkey came with some thick nice bacon, pesto, fresh tomatoes, and beautiful turkey. I had the meatball came with 3 huge meatballs a delicious roll and great provolone cheese. Couldn't recommend this establishment enough, go inside and eat!
My wife makes my lunch for me everyday, as well as a daily smoothie in the morning. Last week my wife was in San Antonio on a business trip so I had no lunches made. Last Friday I decided to venture away from my office and get lunch. I have had Larry's Deli catered to our office a few times, so I decided to get the egg salad on wheat. It was so GOOD! I even had my wife make egg salad for my lunch this week! It's been over a year since I've bought lunch and I would go again! I go to several places around the East Village for business lunches, however Larry's is my favorite, along with their superb service and friendly service.
We had a great meal! Our first time here, and the young lady Sam working the counter was fantastic. Helped my wife with a gluetun free options, and talked me into a roasted pork sandwich. May become a regular stop before Padres games. Thanks Sam!!
**Location:** The place is small, but it’s clean and relaxing. It’s not fancy, but it's well-designed, reflecting the quality and craftsmanship that goes into the sandwiches. **Service:** The service is consistently outstanding. Even when there were seven people ahead of me, I was served within ten minutes. The owner, whom I assume is the one in charge, has always checked in with me about how the food is. She genuinely cares, and that shows not only in the ambiance and the food but also in the service. You really feel welcomed and appreciated as a customer. **Now, onto the food:** I've tried five of the ten options—Tuna, Porchetta, Turkey, Ribeye, and Philly. Since everyone has different tastes, I won’t go into mouthwatering specifics for each (though they were all delicious!). I'll highlight my current favorite, the shaved Ribeye. This sandwich is served cold, which makes it unexpectedly refreshing. The ribeye is packed with flavor and is wonderfully complemented by the horseradish spread. It also includes a smooth cheese (possibly Havarti?), crisp pickled red onions, and leafy greens, all adding to the fresh burst of flavor. It’s simple, but the quality and freshness really shine through—it's fantastic! (For an equally savory yet delicious experience, definitely try the Porchetta; it’s a delightful hot mess of a sandwich.) Larry's may be new and not yet an institution, but in a city known for its sandwiches, their straightforward, high-quality, and fresh options are a great step in that direction. I'm really happy to have Larry's Deli in downtown San Diego! (P.S.: I just found out they have a late-night menu on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 PM to 4 AM. Frito pie and grilled cheese, anyone? Count me in! My next review will be inspired by the frito pie.)
