The food was incredible! We ordered three rolls and three appetizers, which were perfect for sharing with my friend. We cleared every plate and left feeling full and satisfied! I really enjoy the charm of this hidden gem, and the owner is so kind and dedicated! I highly recommend this place!
I found myself in Mission Bay, too hungry to trek all the way to Japantown, so I decided to browse Yelp for some options. I came across Japanese House, just a 10-minute walk away on 6th Street in the SOMA district. It was a couple of blocks from the more questionable parts of town, but I figured it was worth a shot. Upon arrival, I found the restaurant in a somewhat inconspicuous older building with a vibe reminiscent of Tokyo's back roads. I walked in with confidence, much like Tom Cruise, and was greeted warmly. I noticed that the interior was still set up for pickup and delivery, but there were two small tables outside on the sidewalk. I decided to order a Bento Box that included two entrées, Japanese rice, a green salad, and miso soup. I chose Chicken Katsu and Teriyaki Salmon, and added a Martinelli Sparkling Apple Juice since there were no teas available at the moment. I sat at one of the empty tables, and it wasn’t long before the miso soup arrived, followed shortly by the Bento Box. For just over $13, it looked quite decent. The Chicken Katsu seemed a bit small, but I’ve had worse; it was flavorful enough. However, the Teriyaki Salmon was the standout. They served me three generous pieces with a perfectly crisp skin. The salmon was grilled just right and was absolutely delicious! Overall, I was pleased with my experience at Japanese House. It may not be Japantown, but it’s a great alternative if you’re craving Japanese food in SOMA. The couple who owns the place were polite and definitely more genuinely Japanese than Tom Cruise could ever hope to be.
Had curry rice with chicken Katsu and bento box katsu and fried oysters) so yummy and price is good. Each meal comes with miso soup and vegetables. Will definitely come back
My boyfriend and I ordered from here last night and it wasn't worth the food poisoning. Stay away.
