La Segunda St. Petersburg

Go early typically a line but service is fast. Parking lot is a challenge

I’ve walked/driven by La Segunda in St. Pete, countless times and was always curious to try it, especially since I often see their bread in local stores. The other day, I decided to stop in and try their savory meatball sandwich special, unfortunately, it was a big letdown. For a sandwich marketed as savory, it was shockingly bland. The sauce had no flavor, and the meatballs themselves were very mediocre. To top it off, the sandwich was supposed to have two cheeses, but there was only the tiniest sliver of cheese on mine—hardly enough to make an impact. Even the bread, which I expected to be the highlight, was bland. I got my order to go, and although it was busy during lunch, it took a while for the sandwich to be ready. When it finally came out, it was handed to me in a plain brown bag with no napkins, utensils, or condiments, which felt like a big miss for a to-go order. While the sandwich was disappointing, the guava turnover was the one redeeming item—tiny but super sweet and satisfying if you’ve got a sweet tooth. Be warned though, it’s very sugary, almost too much. Also, note that they only sell Coke products if you 're considering a beverage. Overall, I was hoping for an authentic, flavorful experience but came away feeling like it was subpar—except for the pastry.

My Daughter and I went there 9/1/2024...we had never been there before and purposely went there for a Cuban sandwich...BIG disappointment...we arrived around noon...they must have run out of meat...because the sandwich was sooooo SKINNY you could barely see any meat,,...definitely no geneoa salami.,and trace amounts of pork....a tiny amount of ham....one or two pickles and barely any cheese...we wanted guava cheese pastry as well but by noon they were already gone???? It looked like there was only ONE person working in the kitchen????? It did not get busy until we sat down to eat ..after having eaten there for the first time and having such a bad experience we will not go back again or EVER recommend it to anyone.

Love this place! It's simple and friendly with a great atmosphere. The food and drinks out of this world.

Love this place! The food is so good! I always have a hard time deciding between the Cuban sandwich or the Muffeletta. The bread they use is freshly baked and you can buy a loaf to take home. Desserts are amazing as well. Only downside is they are only open until 3pm.
