They keep telling me the canceled booking is going to be payed back but the payment is difficult or they have problems with their email or they need more information. So sad that promises are made and nothing happens. They ask my for a down payment due to be payed within a view days, now I need it back, and they are not so quick anymore. Maybe this review will help? Salomón?
Would not recommend staying here. Maybe it was a one off night, but one of the worst experiences in my hostel life. Cons Power went out in the middle of the night until the morning. So no wi fi, no fans, and the fridge started leaking So many mosquitos. I should've known it would be bad when I walked into the room and there was blood spatter lining the walls. No mosquito nets or anything were provided When the wifi was working it was extremely slow and nonexistent in my room The toilet did not work properly and the shower dribbles water out Staff were yelling early in the morning at like 6 am. That paired with the wildlife chirping away did not help. I know we're in the jungle but other hostels nearby weren't like that Also during dinner staff was banging things and also ringing this annoying bell every 5 minutes No real sense of community. Mostly people sitting by the bar/restaurant Pool is small and area is under construction Pros Food was decent By the beach Would recommend staying at Costeno Beach or Bohemia Beach Hostel.
The staff are super friendly and welcoming! The food is very good and the setting is amazing. To get wifi you just have to go to the co-working space and it is very good. Very good general atmosphere, we had a great stay.
Here you have great reasons to stay at this place: One of the best sunsets you can have on the Caribbean coast. Great Colombian Caribbean music, also international (electronic, dance) for shaking it! The staff is promptly to help/assist you with a smile The food is very tasty, and goes with a fair price! The sea, the sea! Walk during the day, walk at night under the moon's light, and you'll feel than strengthen, solitude, and calm. It's double worthy if you're coming alone, or with more people! You can have your space here! I'll continue re-discovering our northern Magdalena province coastline.
Price Room prices also have good variety even for locals in private rooms and also shared rooms. Besides, food prices are pretty good considering the context and prices of many restaurants in any touristic area in or surroiunding Santa Marta. Location Facilities Rooms in general seem pretty clean and comfortable, pretty good nature looking. Ours was a Private room for 2 , it had a big chest to save all of our important things, we also had a basic fan, key for any room in Santa Marta as temperatures make you sweat even during the nights. The bed was pretty comfortable as well and in the entrance of the room (our private room) we had a water faucet to clean our feet from the sand collected. Apart from all of that, I wanted to highlight that nature and lack of city noises makes a lot of difference when sleeping as you can sleep cozier. Food By far this was the best experience here in my opinion and my girlfriend 's. The food here has a good variety, from sea food until some pizzas that seem to be pretty good. Every dish that we tasted had really good flavors and tasted so natural that it was a pleasure eveytime that we ask for anything to eat. Our personal recommendation was Cordon Blue and Alitas with BBQ sauce . Customer Service Customer service was not great really. There are just 2 members of the staff to highlight: one of them speaks English, French and Spanish, the other one only was there at night but it was pretty smiley and agreeable. Take into account the one that speaks 3 languages is just a volunteer so who knows how much more time he will be there. Activities During week days you will not find any activity in Los hermanos to socialize apart from the diner. Probably in the other hostels nearby you will but I am not sure of it. During weekends it seems there are parties or social activities like the Karaoke night that was suposed to occur on the first Sunday when we arrived. My critic for this is that there was no an animator here and thus no one participated so the activity never existed. Beach seems goodlooking for photographers and to enjoy the view but the tide is pretty strong to swim far. Critics For any foreign person that reads this or even locals, something that I observed pretty common was that fellow diners left slices of pizza or big leftovers. Example: they would eat half of the food served in a dish instead of packing it or giving it to the dogs nearby at least. Guests should have access to a broom as we get our feet dirty pretty often and that sand all over the room results pretty uncomfortable sometimes. There should be more activities for socializing as probably some guests are looking to create new friends. Consider that foreign people tend to be super shy.
