We shared a large poutine that was so generous in size that we couldn't even finish it. It was absolutely delicious, with amazing fries. I think we have found our new favorite stop on our way home! See you next year!
Every time my family visits Sault Ste. My family is happy. Great prices, great service if you are like me and hardly ever carry cash, they accept debt at the Ambassador Motel office. That was a bonus!
Great pommes! Big burger! Can't wait to come back! Not sure what else to say to get the minimum character rule... It's a chip stand... but it's good!
We were delighted to discover Ambassador Fries, which is directly owned by the Ambassador Motel where we stayed for the night during our recent trip to Sault Ste. Marie. After a long drive, it was nice to simply walk down to the parking lot and indulge in some new (for us Mainers) flavors. We were eager to try some Canadian dishes, and poutines were at the top of our list. Ambassador Fries offered a variety of options for ordering, both individually and as part of a "Meal Deal". We decided to go all out and ordered two meal deals, each with a small poutine with added bacon, as well as a corn dog just for fun. My wife ordered the Cheeseburger deal, while I went for the Ambassador (Cheese Peameal bacon) deal. Both burgers were incredibly satisfying, with great flavors and served with fresh tomatoes in a salad. There were also various condiments and toppings available for us to try. The corn dog was spicier than expected, but it brought back childhood memories for my wife and was good enough that I couldn't help but have a bite. We were impressed with how the poutines were prepared, with the cheese melted throughout the fries rather than just on top. The only downside was that they were a bit too salty towards the end of the portion, but since it was our first time trying them, we had nothing to compare it to. With a steady stream of customers coming in to dine at the shaded outdoor tables or for takeout, Ambassador Fries is a popular spot for a meal. We left feeling satisfied and happy with our experience!
They should be reported to the Heart Association. We shared an Ambassador deal, burger, bacon, Canadian bacon, two slabs of cheese and the only healthy part was the lettuce tomato with the gravy covered fries with more cheese and bacon. But was it good....I had even thought of getting another burger the following evening, but held back. It is worth the trip across the border to experience this dish. Wish I had a pic of the burger.
