The Assam Laksa at this restaurant is top-notch, ranking as the best in Toronto. Just like any other dining establishment, each place has its own specialties to offer.
I went to this restaurant for dinner with my family and I wasn't particularly impressed with the food. It was a bit on the oily and salty side.
I was excited to visit this place based on my uncle's recommendation and the positive reviews I had read. I was joined by my dining companion, Raj, for the visit.
With 284 different items in their Take Out menu, you will not be disappointed coming to this restaurant. The Malaysian dishes are authentic. The Penang Char Kwei Teow (Fried Hor Fun w/ Mixed Seafood ala Penang) was like the original one I ordered in Penang. No wonder, because the owner is a real Malaysian. This time we ordered Sambal Chicken, which was spicy and delicious. And Ikan Bilis Crispy Prawns w/ coconut spices. Also for vegetables we ordered Kang Kung Belacan (KangKung with shrimp paste sauce.) We also ordered the Ikan Bakar (Banana leaf grilled Stingray,) it took 25 minutes to prepare, but it was worth the wait. The meat was so tender, it melted in your mouth. We have been here many times and in the past we had ordered the Prawn in Fragrant Spices, which was soo good. That is if you like a little spicy food. If not, try the Crispy Butter Prawns or the Ikan Bilis Crispy Prawns mentioned above. If you like some chicken dish, order the famous Ayam Percik (Grilled chicken with coconut sauce) right after you are seated or in advance (before you order the other food,) because it will take about 20 minutes to prepare. But it is soo good, it is worth the wait. The same thing if you want to order the Ikan Bakar as mentioned above. If you can handle the spicy hot food, then order the Mee Goreng (Yellow Noodles w/ seafood in Sambal Sauce.) It is soo good. Also the Singapore Laksa (Curry Soup Noodles w/ coconut Milk) is hot. If you like fried rice, try the Indonesian Fried Rice. You will not be disappointed. You will need to come back again and again to taste different dishes from 280 selections. Enjoy!
I had no idea what to expect from this experience, but the service was excellent and the good was really good. We all decided to try something new! It was clearly quite popular with locals, but there was still enough room for a party of six to be seated. We definitely recommend checking this one out.
