Long Kings - Scarborough

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I noticed that it had some mixed reviews. To be honest, I typically don't give restaurants a perfect 5-star rating, but I couldn't find fault with this one. The service was excellent, the food was hot and delicious, and the bill was under £40 (which is rare these days). I will definitely come back here when I'm in Whitby again. Thank you for a truly enjoyable meal.

Me and my friend went on NYD for an evening meal. We were quickly seated with menus and drinks order taken. Shortly after our order was taken and complimentary prawn crackers brought to the table. We had 1/4 duck for starter, cooked perfectly accompanied with the salad, sauce and pancakes. Our mains were beef in black bean sauce, crispy shredded chicken in sweet chilli sauce, house special vermicelli, egg fried rice and a side of curry sauce. Brought out to us after a nicely timed break inbetween courses, all the dishes were piping hot, beautiful flavours in each dish and plentiful too. We were given a warm plate each and left to dig in! Around 5/10 minutes later a member of staff came over to check all was good, if we were enjoying to food and to take another drinks order. Table cleared shortly after we’d finished and was asked if we’d like any desserts/coffee. We politely declined as we were full from the starter and mains. The staff worked very hard and made our visit enjoyable. Will we return the next time we’re in Whitby….absolutely!

We had been avoiding this Chinese restaurant due to the negative/mixed reviews, but while staying in a nearby cottage and the weather being terrible, we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. We ordered takeaway for four people and the person who served me was polite and helpful. The food was delicious and the dishes we chose were very tasty. The portions were generous and could easily feed more than four adults. It would be beneficial for customers to have the option for card payment and a delivery service would be a nice bonus. However, we have no complaints about the quality of the food. We will definitely be returning in the future.

My family and I had a fantastic dining experience at Long King. We ordered one of the set meals for three people and were extremely impressed. The food was delicious, hot, and plentiful. The staff were attentive and friendly. We are all big fans of Chinese cuisine and this meal was one of the best we've had in years! The only downside was that the restaurant only accepts cash, but the waitress informed us that we could also pay via bank transfer to their business account. This made the payment process easy and convenient. Don't let the cash-only policy deter you from dining here, as they are willing to accommodate alternative payment methods. Thank you Long King for a wonderful meal!

Very small portions, which came out just cooked, on cold plates. Unable to eat leisurely before it went cold. God knows what temperature the takeaways are when you get them home. However, since eating in, locals have said they would only get a take out, not good value for money eating in. But the score of 1 is for the young staff who were serving on; who were excellent.
