My favorite sushi spot in north Seattle hands down! Best calamari, rolls, and service whether it’s dining in or for take out is always A+
I am updating my review from 2017. It has been a few years since I last visited Billy Beach, and unfortunately, I have to say that the quality has declined over the years. A friend suggested we dine here, and I was looking forward to it as I remembered how good it used to be. However, they have reduced their happy hour menu and deals significantly. There were only two rolls available on the happy hour menu - a salmon skin roll and a tempura roll. I recall there used to be more options on the happy hour menu. None of the dishes stood out as exceptional. We ordered green beans, salmon karaage, chicken karaage, Happy Crunch Roll, 4-piece salmon and tuna nigiri, salmon skin roll, and super bad boy roll. The breading on the chicken karaage resembled a fish and chip batter, which was disappointing. Overall, our experience at Billy Beach was not satisfying. I doubt I will return anytime soon.
Delivery Review: Arrived in Seattle late on a Sunday night and was craving sushi. I ordered sashimi and rolls from a local restaurant with 4 stars. While waiting for my order, I read some recent reviews mentioning hair in the food or food poisoning. Despite my hesitation, the food arrived promptly and neatly before the estimated time on Yelp Food Status. I inspected the containers and found no hair in the food. The fish looked fresh, the rice seemed fine, and nothing appeared old. I conducted a smell test on the sashimi, salmon, tuna, octopus, scallops, and albacore, all of which smelled normal. The taste test yielded positive results, with the gyoza and miso soup being average. If I don't get sick later, I won't update this review. Would I return? Why not.
Billy Beach was a pleasant surprise! Despite its interesting name, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, after hearing my friend rave about it and seeing the mouthwatering photo of sushi she took, I knew I had to try it for myself. Craving sushi rolls tonight, I decided to order the Beach Rainbow Roll for takeout. This delicious roll featured real crab, shrimp tempura, mayo, tobiko, cucumber, avocado, salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. The tempura was crispy, the crab with mayo was delightful, and the sashimi on top was fresh. I'm thrilled to have discovered such a fantastic sushi spot so close to my home. While my friend mentioned that it's a bit pricey, personally I don't find it unreasonable. I can't wait to take advantage of their happy hour menu on my next visit. The staff was friendly, and it was great to chat with some Japanese workers, who are surprisingly rare in Seattle.
