4.5 5.0 Eatrip is one of the coziest, incredible hidden restaurants I’ve been to in Tokyo. It’s located very centrally in Harajuku, tucked away behind a main street, surrounded by greenery and next to their flower shop. I came here with one of my friends last month and we had a fabulous evening in this lovely setting. For dinner, they have one course menu (7,700 yen incl. tax) and with drinks, it ends up being 9,000 yen or more per person. At a glance, the course menu looked quite large, with 7 dishes and a drink. However, each dish was just a couple of bites each, so it wasn’t as heavy and we could enjoy many different flavors. I can see how the portions may be too small for some. The service was fine, although not the friendliest and it did feel a little rushed the way they served one dish after another. Considering the price point and beautiful atmosphere, I wish the service were better. We still did have a wonderful farm to table experience and I look forward to visiting again. Menu on Mar 19: Fave Beans Chrizo Pound Cake Seasonal Vegetables with Nuts Miso Sauce Marinated Bonito, Plum and Kale Fukinotou Fritter Sautéed Spanish Mackerel, Canola Flower Cherry Shrimp Sauce Grilled Beef, Kintoki Carrot Purée Water Dropworts Dessert: Choice of 4 Kinds of Citrus, Fromage Blanc Mousse OR Standard Custard Pudding, Espresso Cream Amaretti Drink: Choice of Coffee OR Herbal Tea
The best atmosphere for dinner!! We had a paring corse and everything was fantastic!! I really enjoyed everything we had and the course was just right amount for me to be able to enjoy the dessert as well. The staff are super friendly and they gave us good food presentation as well: They use local organic ingredients. I loved all the details of interior too! Very much looking forward to going back again!
Borderline decent food for the price, but decent enough to support great atmosphere of a little Tokyo hideaway. Enjoy the beautiful decor, but don’t expect much of food or service. All the dishes lack cohesion, with chef pairing together two individually delicious ingredients but ruining the taste unity in the process. Salted fish and persimmons? Could be good, but not so here... Service is not bad, but reactions from a some staff members seem outright weird and awkwardly robotic. Try lunch if you are in the area and hungry, and dinner if you need that romantic feel. Don’t expect to be wowed though.
The food and service here is an incredible value. From the first moment it seems like you're entering a friend's home, in the way it's set back from the road, loaded with florals, and segmented into several rooms. The food, all seasonal, is exquisite. The service was above and beyond, with great natural wine recommendations and a list of places to try in Tokyo handed to us as we left. All were based on the things we mentioned to our server that we liked throughout the dinner. A wonderful experience- will definitely return!
