Great for those who want to impress their loved ones for a unique dome dining experience with take-away).
Interesting place, quite happening at Christmas time. There is a big Christmas tree outside and marketplace with Christmas theme. Small stores there are selling Christmas decoration, etc. There is also small dome for kids to play with snow inside. I didn't see how much on that, but there is paynow sign outside and seems like need to pay for kid to play. Also outside the capitol theatre, group of people are running fitness outside and burned their calories. They said can burn up to 1000 calories per hours. I visited on night time, the Christmas light was great outdoor. Would visit again to enjoy the Christmas celebration. They are having same theme between Capitol and Chijmes. I saw the same sign when visiting both places at that day. I was looking at the ice skating ring, it was at Chijmes instead.
There is now an underground linkway from city hall mrt to capitol and it is also linked to Adelphi. In the past it was necessary to walk on the ground level and cross roads, carry umbrella when it rains but now it’s not necessary. So great work for the underground linkway to cut through to these malls from mrt and back to mrt again.
It's been more than a decade since I last visited before it was revamped. The usual impression often strikes me is the small space practically has nothing to see or shop. I would conveniently give it a miss and head straight to raffles city just diagonally across the street. Today's accidental visit is an eye opener. It is like an iceberg not much above the surface but lots to see underground.
A low traffic mall although well located and connected directly to Raffles City and City Hall MRT. Not certain what the mall is planned to be or positioned as but certainly it lacks identity with pretentious fake floral arrangements hanging from the glass ceiling trying its best to mimic some European Christmas market. Actually it’s has good restaurants at the arcade level especially the La Scala Ristorante which is managed by the Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore. Capitol Theatre is the most Instagramable cinema in South East Asia but is under utilised, maybe should just open as a normal cinema 7-days a week to attract traffic. The basement levels are rather disconnected to the street levels due to poor positioning of the escalators at a corner.
