We love the ambiance of the China town restaurant. We usually prefer to dine in instead in the culture gully. I find dim lighting makes this place very romantic. Me and my husband love to sit in the restaurant and have our main meal here. Moreover, we love love this place because we get Chinese (used to get Thai also) here. In this visit, we saw the change in their menu. No bengali and Thai Food. We were sad about the thai curry absence. <br/ <br/ We usualyy prefer to order:<br/ <br/ 1. Honey chilli Potatoes: Very average.<br/ 2. Seasonal Crispy Vegetables with salt and assorted pepper: My entire family loves it. Veggeis are fresh, spicy is high and entire dish is crisp enough. Once we had experience with this dish.<br/ 3. Veg Fried Rice and Noodles: Average and fresh.<br/ 4. Cottage Cheese with Onion, Bell Pepper and Spring Onion: Very heavy and filling dish. Good to have it when one is hungry. Paneer is so soft and fresh. Love it. Spice is okay for me.<br/ <br/ We used love the Green Thai Curry. Awesome seasonal veggies and could smell kafir leaves. We will miss the dish.
As first I could believe myself, did I just saw 'Tangra China Town ', the china town in the entire India. Yes what I say was indeed true. Kolkata 's China Town is a one stop for any Chinese food. And Tangra China Town in Cultural Gully did remind me of superb Chinese food. <br/ <br/ The Chili Garlic Veg Noodles were good. Lots of garlic and strong chili flavor, I absolutely loved it. The Chili Garlic Panner is another example for delicious food. But the Honey Garlic Baby corn was a little on the sweet side because of excess Honey.<br/ <br/ The Aloo Posto Jhol was divine. My landlady used to cook for me way back in Kolkata and this was not different than her 's. Superb. It goes really well with Luchi or the Bengali flat bread. <br/ <br/ And if your in Kolkata dont forget to try the Sandesh made from Khoya and Jaggery. No words it just melts in your mouth. <br/ <br/ The Scorecard: <br/ Food/Taste 8/10<br/ Service 8/10<br/ Value for Money 7/10<br/ Ambiance 8/10<br/ Quantity 8/10<br/ <br/ Must try Chinese food and ofcourse dont forget the Sandesh!
On my first visit to KOD, I and my partner, wished gravy fish for lunch. On checking menu, we happily ordered Gravy Prawn with Brown Rice. It was super tasty! Prawns were nicely cooked. If in KOD, do visit here, if fond of WB dishes. Time in food reaching your table is long, not appreciated at all.Otherwise, for food, its superb!
Being a bong what amazing it is to found our very own Tangra in Gurgaon. An amazing place in Kolkata where you get India Chinese food. I was thrilled to be there. Food was also nice specially Prawn malaikari with steamed rice. We also tried chowmin which was nice too. Hope to taste few more items on our next visit.
