Randall's Pancake House - South Elgin

I ordered the berry pancakes which was supposed to highlight the berries. Unfortunately the raspberries and the blueberries were clearly frozen (the blue berries were dry and wrinkly and the raspberries were falling apart in a mush). I could have made much better pancakes at home and have bought the fresh fruit if I had known that is what they were going to sell. Lastly, even the orange juice tasted watered down. I cannot justify coming back and will certainly not recommend it to anyone.

I was excited to try out the food, especially the pancakes, since the reviews were so high, but I was actually quite disappointed with what I got. The service was nice and quick, and I liked my breakfast sandwich, but, unfortunately, for a pancake house, the pancakes were pretty disappointing. I'd even go as far as say that they were below average. I believe I've had better ordering from McDonald's. I like to compare my experiences at breakfast places and pancake houses to Lou Mitchell's as I have yet to go to a place with better tasting pancakes. This place certainly does not hold up to that standard, and their food is actually more expensive than a similar order at Lou Mitchell's. I suppose this place has more appeal for senior citizens as I'm seeing quite a few advertised senior citizen discounts, but since I am not a senior, I cannot take advantage of any of these offers. Also, they seem to have coupons on their website that I wish I had noticed before spending so much here. While it did fill me up, because of the price and the lackluster pancakes, I am unfortunately going to have to give Randall's Pancake House a 2.5/5 on the Lou Mitchell's scale. It's a shame because I would be more than happy to support a family owned business over a chain, but I'm not seeing anything special for me that this place is offering.

Delicious food great service. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it. Our food came out less than 10 minutes. I had buttermilk pancakes, eggs, hot chocolate. My husband had chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, sausages. Our daughter had the chicken tender meal. I also ordered liver rice to go. We will definitely be back.

Very nice breakfast restaurant. Large menu for anyone to find something good to eat. Dishes we ordered were delicious and large. Service was wonderful and attentive. Definitely one to come back to and enjoy another great meal.

Looks like family owned, very well maintained and treated. Heavy portions of food. Tastes perfect.
