The meal comes with a small salad, because I specified no injera asked for additional salad, I got a small bowl and was charged extra for it. The food (I ordered a beef dish) was tasty, but without the bread was not filling and I left hungry. All the non Ethiopean food is either sandwiches, pizza or Italian baked goods. I might return for a coffee but not a meal.
Great Veggie options it excellent and the portion for the price are outstanding. Be prepared to take left overs phone. the owner Solo is very accommodating to make you additional dishes to complement your meal. The coffee and popcorn is a nice after dinner treat. However wine selection has to be improved with some J Lore and Kim Crawford. solo admitted he does not know much about wine. We will definitely be back again and again. This little gem is worth the trip downtown St. Albert and lots of free parking. Also, the chicken Soup and meat dishes are also great.
We went there for supper one night, it was really good, l would recommend it to anyone. The food was great and the staff were very friendly, and new the menu and were able to explain what was in some of the menu items. Which was appreciated.
I was introduced to this restaurant by my sister who follows a vegan lifestyle. I had never had Ethiopian food. Now I dream of Savior's injera, lentils, and vegetables. Solo (spelling)? is a beautiful man who has always welcomed my family warmly to his establishment, even though we're a motley lot. Thank you for sharing your culture and delicious food with us!
We have had Ethiopian food a few times before, but this was the first time at Saviour's cafe and bistro. We loved it! The vegetarian platter with injera (teff flour bread) and the shrimp dish were both just excellent. The price was good too, for those two main courses, two glasses of wine it was just over $50 which included a tip. This place is a little-know-about gem in St. Albert, I hope more people patronize this restaurant as the food is really good. Service was a little slow but they were quite pleasant and friendly. It was great sitting outside on a warm night enjoying the food and even talking with some of the other restaurant patrons to see what they were ordering. We are not coffee drinkers but apparently their Ethiopian coffee experience is really good.
