The owner, Beta, is a master chef and a kind, generous spirit—truly an all-around baking goddess. She crafts Bosnian pastries using only the finest ingredients, creating layered cakes that are light, airy, and delicately flavored, thanks to her careful approach to butter, syrup, and sugar. You can taste the love in every bite, especially in her egg-based cloud-like cream that dissolves in your mouth. Her chocolate coconut truffles (which she affectionately calls “Bole”) are heavenly, and the baklava, apple pastries, and walnut cakes are simply out of this world. Beta's cakes have completely redefined what dessert means to me. One of the most delightful aspects of Zlatne is the ever-changing variety of desserts, influenced by Beta’s schedule, mood, and creative whims. You never quite know what she’ll whip up for Saturdays, and I always look forward to the surprises that come with my visits. Sometimes, she’ll incorporate splashes of rum in the most unexpected yet subtle ways, while on other occasions, she might have tiramisu, cream pies, or banana loaves that she doesn’t regularly offer. Beta is also the sweetest person and remembers her regular customers' preferences by heart. She even baked for our wedding and generously provided an entire extra wedding cake at no charge! Even the most inebriated guests couldn’t stop raving about her desserts. On top of that, she frequently treats visitors with complimentary Bosnian coffee or gyros as a gesture of hospitality. I believe this is the best bakery in St. Louis, and quite possibly the best I’ve ever experienced. For first-time visitors, I recommend going on a Saturday when Beta has the most cakes available, and they are undoubtedly the freshest. Otherwise, you might miss out on the full mind-blowing variety that Zlatne has to offer!

This is an absolutely amazing place! The food is not only fresh but also incredibly delicious. We always choose to order desserts from here for every event, and we love them every time. The staff is friendly and always willing to assist. They are particularly wonderful with my daughter, which makes our visits even more delightful. I truly love this place!
