We stayed at "The Gables" last year, so we decided to pick up a couple pizzas for dinner one night and bring it back to our villa. While my dad and I waited for the pizzas, we got a couple beers and drank them on the patio which was nice, many people were also eating out there. Our whole family liked the pizzas, and since we are staying at the Gables again next week, we will most likely do it again for an easy dinner. We also picked up coffees here one or two mornings, super convenient!
We were staying in the golf resort at The Gables when we stopped for coffee and Danish at this location. Very cute old school house that has been converted to a Café. It is right next to the Community building in Stanley Bridge at 10 Schoolhouse Lane and at the beginning of the condo units of The Gables. Inside is a light and airy open room with counter service and a bar with chairs at the windows that stretch around the room. Here you can get baked goods, fresh sandwiches, boxed lunches, treats, cappuccinos, lattes and sodas. They use local businesses, growers and producers for their products. Just inside is a check-in for The Gables. and upstairs is a meeting room or event area. They will custom build a menu to suit your requirements for events. They also have a small building next door and a pizza oven for great pizzas. There is a sitting area next to the pizza oven. There is a nice handicap ramp to the café. I stopped there for coffee and a Danish that was fresh and good while I was washing clothes next door. They also have good reception for WiFi in the building. Friendly staff.
We'd passed this place several times this year en-route somewhere else, and finally stopped in.Here we thought it was another funky old house converted/recycled into a funky new coffee shop (We like going to funky coffee shops!)Wrong! This café is part of the lodge complex known as "The Gables of PEI resort"While there sitting at the narrow dining area on a bar stool, patrons came and went. Some to pick up a coffee on the run, others to check into the resort. The place was staffed with what looked to me like several BOOTM's* teenagers. If you are looking for a cute funky café, this ain't it brother!*Bored Out Of Their Mind's
I had the fire oven potato pizza. It was ok but not a WoW. I would suggest a little less potato but more spice, onions, chicken. . . Also the sauce seemed cooler than the pizza dough and potatoes.
