Very cool building and atmosphere. Great beers. Bartender and staff had zero personality and were not the least bit friendly. Seemed to be an inconvenience providing samples, but there were 10 people in the whole place. Served us a burnt pretzel twice with no apology. Decided not to order other food. Admittedly, they did comp us one beer. They need some employee training. People matter in this business. Not a do-over.
Food was decent but unfortunately we won't be back due to the abysmal service. We waited 25 minutes after being sat for a server to even bring us water. The whole dining experience lasted over 3.5 hours due to this. It looked like maybe they were understaffed and allowed more clients in than they could realistically take care of. Our server was very apologetic but forgetful and stressed out. Poor girl forgot like 4 of our drinks and we didn't even say anything because she looked like she was already having a tough day. The place was loud but we were not put off by it since it was a Sunday afternoon. Would probably order takeout from them rather than coming in.
Cute spot that we tried while visiting a friend in Wisconsin. I appreciated how many gluten friendly options they had and how well they labeled their menu. I ordered a GF pizza, which was really good! Everyone in our group loved their food. We would definitely make it a regular spot if we lived in the area.
I don't understand how a place with such underwhelming food has stayed so busy for so long. Yes, their beers are great...but that's it. The pizza is just okay, but it is a good step that they stopped putting arugula on the pizza. N one wants bitter, dirt-tasting leaves on a pizza. The fish fry is good, but you only get fish and one side--greens or fries. No roll. No hashbrowns or baked potato options. It's literally the bare minimum to qualify as a decent fish fry. I got a pimento smashburger tonight and it was easily one of the worst burgers I've ever had. Note to the cooks--I get that you get busy, but c'mon. I spent five years of my life in kitchens. The one rule of thumb we adhered to is to never serve something you wouldn't eat yourself, and you wouldn't have eaten this burger. You couldn't have. It was drier than a Noel Coward martini. It was desert dry. It was inedible. A smashburger takes only about a minute or two to cook. This thing was obliterated. The bun was dry. The pimento wasn't melted down at all. How is that possible? They not only overcooked the burger but they then let it get cold. All in all--it was an entirely forgettable disaster of a meal that cost me $100. In the bright side department: The server was great, if overly busy. The cheese curds remain wonderful. The beers were delightful. I still don't think this place deserves the volume of traffic it gets. It's living on hype, not quality.
