I think the pintos here were the best I ever had in a restaurant. they have, like homemade kartoffels and mac and chz, the best Lima beans, black eyeballs and others. the fried chicken was very crispy and well flavored. they had bananenpudding and a delicious oreo dessert. we're coming back.
Go back to previous ways....the buffet is terrible.Few choices, chicken dry and cold (use to be one of my favorites), and vegetables need to be replenished more often.I would suggest ordering from the menu for fresh food, but it comes from the existing buffet.Once was a go to place for us and friends. Looing for a new place.
We randomly picked this restaurant since we want to have the fried chicken, we were truly surprised by the great food there. The chickens are crispy, the mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes are delicious, even the greens are tasty. My husband said he hasn't have such a great buffet in a long time. And the service is great. Highly recommend if you are n the area for a good eat!
The shrimp and flounder po boy was SO GOOD!!!! Some of the best to-go seafood at the beach. Sides were also delicious- had the sweet potato casserole which was almost like dessert!
This is a fairly standard southern fried chicken restaurant, but I would recommend going a bit further to KFC if you are looking for fried chicken. The primary reason people eat is for the buffet but there isn't enough option to warrant a return visit. The fried chicken itself leaves a lot to be desired, which is the primary reason for such a low rating. The chicken on the buffet is dry and the breading is lacking in flavor. It is not gross in any way, just not much in the way of taste at all. The chicken tenders are even worse because pretty much all the moisture has been cooked out along with breading that lacks heavily in any real flavors.Unfortunately the previous statement could apply to much of the food offered. The mashed potatoes are desperate for the gravy, which was where the flavor was on that option. The other sides ranged from flavorless to under-seasoned, unfortunately nothing stood out to me as exceptional. The desert offerings were an Oreo pudding and Banana pudding option. The Banana pudding was mediocre, the Oreo pudding was actually very good and one of the few things I would recommend highly.Overall, the service was good, the price seemed reasonable, and the restaurant seemed clean and well organized. Unfortunately the main aspect of any restaurant is to serve tasty food, and Southern Chicken definitely fell short in that goal. Thankfully there are many other chicken options in the area if you are hungry for some breaded poultry.
