My mother and I had to go to Swindon hospital today. We left early as we thought we would have some lunch in Marks and Spencer in Swindon town first We both wanted to use the toilet before lunch , well what an awful shock it was, firstly there were three toilet cubicles closed as they were not working, so the remaining few were being used by a constant flow if ladies. The smell was putrid, we decided to leave as we couldn't stay in there any longer. We went to the cafe where there were no clean tables anywhere, trays upon trays of dirty cups and plates piled high. We were served by a young woman who had to make the drinks as well as serve, she spoke so quietly we couldn't hear her, I don't think she knew what it was to smile. My mother and I had to clean our table and put serviettes all over it to try and make it at least appear clean. We found a lady downstairs who was clearly in charge of something, we complained about these issues only to be told the building is over 100 years old so there are plumbing issues, really well get a plumber to sort them then. She said she herself had been helping in the cafe to clear tables, funny we never saw her and it was lunchtime, so instead of standing around on the ground floor go back up and help where it is clearly needed. Would we go there again NEVER.
Dreadful in every way choice of food boring uninspiring customer service rude and seemed uninterested and the restaurant felt dirty tired and old fashioned This restaurant could be so much more as not much left in Swindon for lunch . Come on M&S service always seems disorganised when ever you go in .
As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we looked around to see if there were any available tables. Before we could even ask, a staff member rudely informed us that they were only serving customers who had been assigned a table. It didn't make any sense to us - why make people wait in line if there are no tables available? We were simply trying to see if there was space, but instead we were scolded for not following an unspoken rule. The whole experience was unwelcoming and illogical.
We visited the Cafe in Marks and Spencer at the Orbital Retail Park in Swindon and were surprised and delighted with the quality of our food, the ham and cheese toastie was delicious, soft and well filled
