NOT here .For less than $60 for 2, you get their meat platter worth $89 with trad german pork knuckle (huge), chick schnitzel, smoked pork loin, beef/pork sausages, mashies, sauerkraut, german dumpling, frikadellen patties, gravy, apple jus, chips and pretzel. You also get choice of 2 reds 1 white or soft drink nnn dessert (pheww). Knuckle was tender almost falling off the bone, crackle was crispy without being too hard. Some bits of the knuckle was dry but moist in general. I cant remember what the greenish creamy dipping was, but it went quite well with the pretzel. I loved the sausages, sadly i had to share. None of the diners at the time (place was half full mid week during school hol) was treated as 2nd class paying customers. Not in terms of service nor food. Most were there on vouchers that night as pointed out by owner/manager Oscar, who took the time to chat with us after dinner. Oh, dont forget to sample a variety of $5 german beer available on tap. Come on an empty stomach guys .
We went past this place on our first night in Sydney a few weeks ago on our way to meet up with friends, it took all of our willpower to go by as it smelled delicious and the food looked excellent. About a week later we were able to stop in for dinner and to find out if it was worth the wait, and it was!We were seated quickly and pleasantly, our drinks came out quickly and order was taken efficiently. The place was filling up but never got loud like a lot of places do, probably everyone just enjoying the food so no time for talking. When our meals came out the portions were huge and everything was so good. The sausages were very tasty, the beer was excellent and the service was outstanding, we will be back when we are through Sydney again in November.
Would get 5 star but short staff on Tuesday had them run off feet. Food the main reason for visit, extreme desire for bratwurst. Tuesday special is 3 kinds of bratwurst served on mash with sourKraut mustard (yum) & pickle. Accompanied by a 300ml glass of draught lager. Tastes were perfect in every way from the homeland. Did beer sampler & selection is perfect for every taste. Good waterfront location for watching local Harbour entertainment.
On a cold, windy, wintery Sydney afternoon we wrapped ourselves in the blankets provided and enjoyed the most stupendous platter of pork ever. The staff were really very friendly and the food was delicious. Great winter comfort food - loads of flavour, plenty of it and loads of variety. Thanks team, we had a great afternoon.
We had lunch on the most miserable of days. Staff were very friendly and new their food and beverages. After a couple of pilsener ales and a little sour apple snapps we were served a tasting platter for two. What can I say. It was like I was in Germany. Cheese Kransky, Kaiserslotten, Bratwurst, Some type of mince balls on a skewer, chicken snitzel and the best cooked smoked hock I have had for a very long time. This was the meat but then there was potatoes: mash, chips, potato salad and a knodel. Did I mention coleslaw, sour kraut and red cabbage. We tried but failed miserably to finish but it all was delicious and right for a winter's type day.
