The hostess last visit decided to allow some snob people ahead of us with no apology from either the hostess or the snobs (they acted like they owned the place, cut in front of us and another group). I would rate them 5 stars but for that experience. I don't drink but I do know they make a great Long Island Ice Tea. The bar is terraced and has a better view than the dining room.
The service was great. The atmosphere was lovely. The food portions were good for the price. However my food, fish and chips was disappointing. It was over cooked and the chips/fries were frozen. For the cost of $31 I expected more. The other people I was with enjoyed their food.
I brought some friends of mine here for dinner. Neither one had ever been before. They loved it and are planning on coming again. I of course loved it too. You did not fail to impress.
So delicious and accommodating when we asked for a special table as well as asparagus. Thank you for a wonderful evening
The panoramic views of Commencement Bay from the main dining room are breathtaking, absolutely amazing. I took a few pictures and included them in this review. In addition, they have a lower level Martini lounge, The Cliff Hanger, that also gives you nice views of Commencement Bay. The Cliff Hanger also offers the exact same menu as the upstairs main restaurant along with their own bar menu with a more laid back atmosphere. think, upscale sports bar with great views. Now, the atmosphere is still the same and it brought a smile to my face like meeting an old friend after not seeing him for a long time. All the wood is still there and in fact, it's even better after their remodel. Still dark and moody with the soft sounds of Frank Sinatra playing in the background, no really, they had Frank Sinatra playing in the background. And, that was a nice new touch. Now having that out of the way, now lets talk about the food. It is a little disappointing to me to report that the food is not what I remembered. Aside from the presentation, the food was not very good starting with the service. At Sizzler that can be overlooked but not when the 8 oz steak cost $80. Now, I was informed that The Cliff House had an employee quit on the evening of our diner and therefore they were a little short staffed and because you never end a decades long relationship on a bad note after just one disagreement. I am going to be giving The Cliff House a second look in a few weeks. I'm hoping that the employee that quit that evening was the chef as that would explain the quality of food this evening. As for now, The Cliff House gets 4 stars. The Cliff House is on par with every other restaurant. The difference is they cost three times as much.
