The muffin was about half the size of a Costco muffin, but it had a lovely taste and plenty of blueberries. However, it left a gummy feeling in my mouth. According to their Facebook page, a box of six muffins costs NT 390, and a single muffin is NT 70. They also offer a 10% discount for Plant Fan VIP cardholders. I appreciate that Vuffin offers vegan muffins in Taichung, but based on my experience, I am unlikely to return.
I stopped by while in the neighborhood and had a little trouble finding the place since there’s not obvious signage for it. Vuffin is inside of a place called DJ House. I arrived during what Google lists as their regular business hours, but the windows were completely dark. I did see movement inside and got lucky that the owner Janice saw me looking confused outside. She opened the door just a crack and asked if I were there for a language exchange event later that evening. No, I thought that Vuffin was here and offered vegan muffins to purchase individually as indicated on their Facebook page. She corrected me by saying that they only take pre-orders. Hmm, okay. But she was gracious enough to give me a free blueberry muffin to try and decide whether I want to order a box of six (in a single flavor) in the future. After taking it home and leaving it overnight for breakfast the next morning, I noticed that the coconut oil they used in the muffin had pretty much soaked through and spread all over the bottom half of the paper bag I had it in. It’s probably about half the size of Costco’s gigantic muffins. The flavor was nice, and there were plenty of blueberries. But the muffin left a gummy feeling in my mouth. According to their Facebook Page, a box of six will cost NT$390, and an individual cupcake will set you back by NT$70. If you have a Plants Fan VIP Card, you will get 10% off your purchase. I’m glad that Vuffin is making vegan muffins are available in Taichung, but given my experience, I will be unlikely to return.
I visited Vuffin in the neighborhood, but had trouble finding it due to lack of obvious signage. The restaurant is located in a place called DJ House. Despite arriving during their listed business hours, the windows were dark. Fortunately, the owner Janice noticed me outside and opened the door slightly. She mentioned a language exchange event, but I was there for the vegan muffins, which I had seen advertised on their Facebook page. However, Janice informed me that they only accept preorders. She kindly offered me a free blueberry muffin to sample. I found the muffin to be smaller than expected, with the coconut oil leaking onto the paper bag it was packaged in. The taste was good, but the texture was gummy. A box of six muffins is priced at NT$390, while a single cupcake costs NT$70. Customers with a Plants Fan VIP Card receive a 10% discount. Although I appreciate Vuffin offering vegan muffins in Taichung, my experience was underwhelming and I do not plan to return.
