The argyle hotel is a perfect weekend away from sydney. the journey is a manageable 2 hours 50 minutes in peak traffic on Friday. the hotel is really comfortable, recently decorated, with fireplaces in public areas, good beds, and beautiful bathroom products. it has a great bar and restaurant. the meals are delicious, well made and excellent quality. they make their own baked and brot in front of place. the wine list is excellent and sources from less well-known regions and weeping. the staff are very friendly and, rarest dinge in new south wales, they are dog friendly! taralga itself is charming. there are enough things to occupy half a day or day, as for example to go to the city and see the historic buildings, visit the orchard gallery, look through the business of the hotel (via the street,) or with a coffee or wine tasting at 36 orchard. there are many walks and rides around and goulburn is just 38 minutes away.
The argyle inn was a great place for the weekend, especially in winter. the building itself had a lot of thoughts placed in its renovation and holds it old charms next to the modern updates in the bar area. we loved the living room upstairs, especially the massive kamin. service from beginning to end was amazing as the quality of the food. we ate both evenings in the restaurant and instead of being presented with a menu, we gave options what was available, what was somewhat different. it has worked for 2 courses around $70-80 per head. the breakfast was also great and included in the stay. the bar had some decent beer on tape of capital brewing in canberra and also offered takeaways. taralga itself is small. there was a large coffee shop just on the street, another (lightly less polished) pub, and a few other shops. Apart from this, the nearest civilisation is located in goulburn, 30-40 car minutes away. when they come here, they are ready to stay in taralga for the weekend. the only part of our stay was a loud fan under our room (6,) which turned on and off at night, which meant that we did not sleep very well. fasten it and its 5 stars!
