Acquamarina - Torino

The concept of a buffet in at least some parts of Italy is not usually the all-you-can eat with multiple trips to fill up your plate, from what I have seen as a foreigner visiting Italy over the years. Often it involves only one trip to get appetizers and then you order and pay for another main dish. So, when I read multiple reviews saying that not only was the food good but it was abundant and they also brought plates of pasta to the table for you fo 11 Euro, I was intrigued but somewhat sceptical. However, upon arriving I double checked in my passable but broken Italian) with the young lady behind the bar and she confirmed that you could go back to the buffet table as many times as you wanted and that the fresh pasta would be brought to the table from the kitchen. Included in the price was one drink, and if you wanted another it would be 5 more Euro, assuming you sat at a table. If you sit at the counter the price drops from 11 to 7 or 8 Euro. We really enjoyed the buffet, especially the roasted vegetables served cold) and a couple of hot dishes on the buffet table think rice and vegetables or small pieces of veal with potatoes in a sauce). There was also some cheese and cold cuts and bread. As promised we were served a rigatoni dish from the kitchen portion the size of your hand, including your fingers), and then later a different pasta with a different sauce, and finally we were offered gnocchi, but by then we were too full to have anything other than a delicious lemon cream stuffed cornetto pastry. All that for indeed 11 Euro per person. Amazing value and friendly, prompt service!
