This place is one of my go to places in the Durham region. Lots of produce, bread, and frozen foods to choose from.We love Phyllis and her advice, she truly cares for her customers (she's in the clothing section .I usually don't have any complaints about this store as they are typically very pleasant. I recommended this store to a friend (and many other friends! , and she immediately loved their raisin bread and cinnamon bread. We went in to purchase several loaves to feed guests at a church event, but we found it quite condescending the way we were treated. We visited on a weekday morning and it was not busy. I understand that a store might put some limits, specially on busy days on how many breads you can purchase but we did not see any limit signs at the store nor the website. One of the bakery staff seemed disgruntled about us purchasing several loaves and that we should have called ahead. I was quite confused because it seemed like they didn't want us buying from their bakery.I just wished that they communicated this in a more professional manner, and I'm sure that many loyal customers are more than open to follow rules if posted at the store or online.
This is a great little spot to stop when heading north or back home. They have some good made to order lunches. The baked goods here are fantastic. The absolute must when stopping here, the fritters!!! Apple or cherry!!! There is nothing else quite like these. They have a huge selection of frozen food items, as well as sauces, snacks, and beverages.A small playground for kids if they need to burn some energy!!
Great place for items you might not find anywhere else.Baked goods were fresh, and the prices were very reasonable. I'm looking forward to going back for the Holiday specials.
The White Feather Store has been around for many years. Tourists and locals love coming here. It sells fresh eggs, has an on site bakery and restaurant. You can buy baked goods, frozen meats, vegetables , fruits and desserts. It has changed with the times and now it does sell frozen prepared foods. They have a wide variety of country wares and fares, which also includes clothes, linens, Knick knacks, signs, candles, souvenirs and much much more. Do not miss their delicious warm freshly baked apple fritters. It can get very busy on weekends, so be prepared.
