They also have English menus, and accept credit cards! My group and I ordered the kesselfrische Weißwürste (with a pretzel , Schnitzel (with Käsespätzle and Schmelzzwiebeln , and a steak. The portions were pretty decent compared to the prices. Weißwürste is a type of veal sausage, and it came in a bowl of broth. Not gonna lie, I wasn't a fan of it, but mainly because of the texture. The veal is very soft, and it's just not very appealing. The pretzel wasn't anything amazing either. I really enjoyed the Schnitzel dish though. It came with Käsespätzle, which is a type of soft egg noodle. The texture is similar to very overcooked noodles, and it kind of reminded me of mac and cheese. Even with the overcooked texture, it tasted pretty good. Schmelzzwiebeln is basically onions, which also tasted okay. The Schnitzel itself was good too. It's a thin piece of meat with even thinner breading, and it had the right amount of flavor and wasn't too greasy. Overall, I'd skip the veal sausage, and go for the Schnitzel (or steak, my friend seemed to enjoy it !
The Barfüßer restaurant is a very nice restaurant in the center of Ulm. At these restaurant you can get very good beer and good food. The prices are ok. I think, if you are in Ulm you have to go to these restaurant.
Best beer in Ulm! Try the Schweine Haxe a meal Fred Flintstone would love! The sitting area below is quieter and better for families, the pub area upstairs is great for groups big and small. Service is great.
Stopped by on a few business trips to the barfuser. The best part is that it opens fairly late and they have english menus. Great german beer and all the dishes I've tried are tasty and authentic. I especially liked the maultaschen (German ravioli) although there was no way I could finish it all. It has a nice patio to enjoy a beer and listen to the Donau. Walking distance from the Maritim was a plus too.
