The dining room is warm and cozy, with authentic Japanese cuisine and decor. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely keep going back until the day I possibly return to the mainland.
This restaurant offers authentic Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices and serves the best sunomono in Victoria. The establishment has a cozy Mom and Pop Shop vibe straight from Japan. The meals are affordable at $6 and while the sushi presentation is simple, it is quite charming. Additionally, the Wasabi is top-notch. Overall, this is the best spot for casual Japanese dining in Victoria.
Hidden jewel: For all Naysayers, buy some overpriced sushi in Azuma (where it is not even fresh and you need to hunt your waiter. This little sushi spot was my place for over 4 years, and I remember when I first went from him, I thought I 'd get food poisoning from this place it looks hard and when I tried my first sushi there it was like a whole other world. The roles are fresh, the flesh is real and the servers are the most friendly people of all time. The ambience is amazing, you feel calm as they play really nice instrumental Japanese music and they are fast to fill your tea/water when you need it. Your combo specials are killers and you can easily get a huge banquet of sushi for like $30. Who cares if some reels are strangely shaped? It's about taste and experience in my books, not aesthetics. Her miso is also really great. 10/10 would recommend you try this place!
If you're seeking a trendy atmosphere, this restaurant may not be for you. However, I find it to be incredibly memorable with a unique character and charm. The menus are large and hand-drawn, with fun artwork and miscellaneous items on the walls. While the prices may be high, the sushi may not be the best in the city, but I found it to be satisfying and enjoyable. The family who runs the restaurant is very friendly. The menu offers great combinations at a great value.
I'm so glad to see they have reopened after the pandemic! They're safety precautions for dining in the restaurant are great! It's my favorite sushi restaurant in Victoria! Absolutely delicious food, the batter on the tempura was so light and flakey. Large selection of bowls and rolls, lots of combination plates to choose from! The rolls were fresh and tasty, generous portions for great prices. Fantastic vegetarian options too! Their specials menus are also super cute- hand drawn by the staff! I definitely suggest checking it out
