During our stay at the Herdade Ribeira de Borba the staff recommended this restaurant. The restaurant is situated in a park in the middle if middle Vila Viçosa and is a little gem … The food is traditional from the Alentejo Region and is simply delicious , during our 2 visits to the restaurant we tried various dishes and it was simply delicious. The meat was very tender and cooked just to the point , and the other night we tried the codfish which was simply delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you ever are in Vila Viçosa

Gets two stars for the service friendly and cordial but the food was just plain horrible. I ordered a Bacalhau à Brás and received one lukewarm jumble of soggy, greasy stick fries, with a few tasteless and minuscule codfish pieces in the middle. Even the three olives seemed to be of the low cost, low quality type. Maybe it was just a fluke but it's hard to forgive a restaurant in Alentejo for serving that kind of food, even if it was just a one time thing.

We enjoyed the restaurant Os Cucos thoroughly! Great real Portuguese food. We had lamb and black pig for dinner. Both were fantastic and not so fatty. Big portions. Couldn't resist the Whisky tart for dessert! The waiters were polite and nice and service was excellent! This restaurant will be a great reason for us to visit Vila Viçosa again!
